Fine Finish Tip

Bedford fine finish tips are compatible replacements for Graco's 671-series RAC 5 and Titan SC-6 fine finish reversible tips. Engineered for smooth atomization and reduced overspray on trim, cabinets, doors, and furniture.

Ideal for stains, enamels, lacquers, and light-bodied paints where finish quality matters most. Available in singles, 3-packs, and 10-packs.

What a fine finish tip does differently

A fine finish tip is built to break material into smaller droplets than a general-purpose tip of the same size. That gives a smoother laid-down film and a softer edge to the pattern, which is what you want on work that will be looked at closely — trim, cabinets, doors, and furniture.

These tips fit the same standard-barrel RAC 5 and SC-6 style guards as standard tips, so no adapter is involved. The difference is atomization quality, not fit.

How to read a tip number

  • First digit × 2 = fan width in inches, measured about 12" from the surface. A 410 sprays roughly an 8–10" fan.
  • Last two digits = orifice size in thousandths of an inch. A 410 has a .010" orifice.

Fine finish work generally sits at the smaller end of the orifice range, because the materials — stains, lacquers, and light enamels — are thin and the goal is a fine, even film rather than high build.

Fine finish vs. fine finish low pressure

Bedford stocks these as two separate families, and they are not interchangeable. The deciding factor is the guard your gun takes:

Fine finish (this collection)Fine finish low pressure

Spray pressureStandard airless pressureDesigned to atomize at up to 50% lower pressure

Both deliver a fine finish. If your gun takes a standard-barrel guard, this is the range you need; if it takes a large-barrel RAC X guard, use the low pressure range instead.

Getting a better finish

  • Drop the pressure until the fan just cleans up. Fine finish work rewards the lowest pressure that fully atomizes — more pressure adds overspray and bounce-back without improving the film.
  • Strain the material. Small orifices clog easily, and a partial clog shows up as tails and an uneven edge long before it blocks completely.
  • Keep a consistent distance and a steady pass. A fine finish tip lays a softer edge, which makes overlap more forgiving — but only if the gun stays parallel to the surface.
  • Replace on pattern, not on hours. When the fan narrows and the edges load up, the orifice has worn and the finish will show it first.

Fine Finish Tip FAQ

What is the difference between a fine finish tip and a standard tip?

Both fit the same standard-barrel guard. A fine finish tip atomizes the material more finely, producing a smoother film and a softer pattern edge, which suits work where the finish is inspected closely. A standard tip covers a wider size range and suits general production work.

Will these fit my gun?

They fit standard-barrel RAC 5 and Titan SC-6 style guards. If your gun takes a large-barrel RAC X guard you need the fine finish low pressure range instead. Each product page lists the equipment it is compatible with.

What size should I use for cabinets or trim?

A 310 is the usual starting point for stains and light enamels on cabinets and trim. For doors and larger panels, a 410 gives a wider fan at the same orifice. Move the last two digits up if the material is heavier.

Can I spray latex through a fine finish tip?

Thinned latex sprays acceptably through the larger orifices in this range, but full-bodied latex is better matched to a standard tip, which offers the larger orifices that material needs.

Are these genuine Graco or Titan tips?

No — Bedford tips are compatible replacements, not genuine OEM parts. Each is manufactured to OEM-equivalent dimensions so it fits the same guards and sprays the same rated fan and orifice as the tip it replaces, at a lower cost per tip.

Compatibility and cross-reference

Bedford fine finish tips are compatible replacements cross-referenced to Graco's 671 and FF5 series fine finish tips and Titan's SC-6 range.
