The Bedford 17-1708 is a compatible replacement for HERO part 18A — the intake ball cage used in HERO spray equipment. The ball cage surrounds the intake valve ball, keeping its lift and return centered over the seat so the valve closes cleanly on every stroke instead of letting the ball wander off-line.

Common reasons for replacement:

  • Ball seating off-center as the cage wears
  • Chatter or rattle from a ball with too much play
  • Impact wear visible inside the cage at teardown
  • Renewed with ball and seat during a valve rebuild
