Punta de cañón grande

Bedford large barrel tips are compatible replacements for Graco RAC X (LTX-series) reversible tips. The larger barrel design handles higher flow rates and wider fan patterns, delivering consistent coverage on walls, ceilings, and large surfaces.

Built for latex paints, primers, and medium to heavy-bodied coatings. Available in a full range of sizes with singles, 3-packs, and 10-packs in stock.

How to read a tip number

  • First digit × 2 = fan width in inches, measured about 12" from the surface. A 517 sprays roughly a 10–12" fan.
  • Last two digits = orifice size in thousandths of an inch. A 517 has a .017" orifice.

Fan width is about the surface you are covering; orifice is about the material you are spraying. Choose the orifice your coating needs first, then the fan width that suits the work.

Matching a size to a coating? The spray tip size guide works through orifice and fan width by material.

Choosing an orifice for your material

OrificeTypical materials
.007"–.011"Lacquers, stains, sealers, and thin varnishes.
.011"–.015"Enamels, primers, and thinned latex — the general finishing range.
.015"–.019"Latex paints for most interior and exterior wall work. The everyday production range.
.019"–.025"Heavy latex, exterior masonry coatings, and thinned block filler.
.025"–.031"Heavy-bodied coatings and elastomerics.
.031"–.039"Block filler, textured materials, and high-build coatings.

Every pump is rated for a maximum tip size. A tip larger than that rating will make the unit run continuously and struggle to hold pressure — check your sprayer's maximum before moving up.

Which Bedford tip range do I need?

The guard on your gun decides which ranges will physically fit. Large barrel tips fit RAC X style guards; they will not fit a standard-barrel guard.

RangeFitsUse it for
Large barrel tips (this collection)Large-barrel RAC X style guardsGeneral-purpose spraying — primers, latex, enamels, and heavier coatings.
Fine finish low pressure tipsLarge-barrel RAC X style guardsThe same guard as this range, but for fine finish work at up to 50% lower pressure — less overspray on trim, doors, and cabinets.
Standard tipsStandard-barrel RAC 5 and SC-6 style guardsGeneral-purpose spraying for guns taking the smaller standard barrel.
Fine finish tipsStandard-barrel RAC 5 and SC-6 style guardsFiner atomization on trim, cabinets, doors, and furniture.
High pressure tipsGraco XHD style equipmentHeavy industrial materials at pressures beyond standard airless.
Line striper tipsStandard-barrel RAC 5 and SC-6 style guardsPavement marking, rated by line width.

If your gun takes a large-barrel RAC X guard, this range and the fine finish low pressure range both fit it — the difference is what they are built to do, not whether they fit.

Getting longer life from a tip

  • Spray at the lowest pressure that fully atomizes. Turn the pressure down until the fan just begins to show tails, then bring it back up slightly. Excess pressure erodes the orifice without improving the finish.
  • Strain your material and keep the filters in. Most clogs and premature wear trace back to debris.
  • Clear clogs by reversing the tip, not by picking at the orifice — anything pushed into the carbide changes the fan pattern permanently.
  • Watch the fan width. A worn tip sprays narrower than its rating and lays heavy edges, using more material than a new tip costs.

Large Barrel Tip FAQ

What is a large barrel tip?

It is a reversible spray tip built for the larger RAC X style guard. The bigger barrel supports higher flow and wider fan patterns, which is why the range runs to larger orifices than standard-barrel tips.

Will a large barrel tip fit my standard guard?

No. The barrel diameters differ. If your gun uses a standard-barrel RAC 5 or SC-6 guard you need standard tips. Check the Compatible Equipment list on the product page before ordering.

What is the difference between these and fine finish low pressure tips?

They fit the same RAC X guard. This range is general-purpose, covering the full size span for primers, latex, and heavier coatings. Fine finish low pressure tips are built to atomize at much lower pressure for finish work, giving less overspray and longer tip life on trim and cabinets.

What size should I start with?

For interior walls in latex, a 515 or 517 covers most work. For doors and trim, a 415 is the common choice. Move the last two digits up for heavier material and the first digit up for a wider fan.

Are these genuine Graco tips?

No — Bedford tips are compatible replacements, not genuine OEM parts. Each is manufactured to OEM-equivalent dimensions so it fits the same guards and sprays the same rated fan and orifice as the tip it replaces, at a lower cost per tip.
