The Bedford 18-1538 is a compatible replacement for Wagner/Amspray part 124, a male adapter for Wagner spray equipment. The male adapter sits at the end of the packing set in the pump's fluid section, seating the packings squarely so they seal against the piston rod and cylinder wall. Worn adapters let the stack shift, and no amount of packing-nut tightening will hold pressure once that happens.

Common reasons for replacement:

  • Fluid bypassing a packing stack that no longer sits square
  • Pressure loss that new packings alone do not cure
  • Wear or corrosion on the adapter's seating face
  • Renewed with the packing set during a fluid-section repack
