The Bedford 20-5389 is a direct-fit replacement for the Graco 24P612 check ball kit used in the Merkur LW025A and LW050A displacement pumps. It supplies 316 stainless steel piston and intake balls, the corrosion-resistant alternative to the standard 440 stainless steel kit.

The 316 alloy is specified where the material being pumped attacks standard bearing steel, leaving balls stained or pitted well before they wear out mechanically. Shops running mixed chemistry often standardize on this kit rather than stocking two different ball materials.

Common reasons for replacement:

  • Corrosion, staining or pitting on balls pulled from a pump running corrosive material
  • Output falling off on one half of the stroke while the other side runs normally
  • Pump creeping under a closed gun instead of holding pressure
  • Repeated loss of prime after the pump sits between jobs
