The Bedford 9-2034 is a compatible replacement for HERO part 02-40-2004 — the intake valve ball used in HERO spray equipment. This ball is the moving element of a check valve in the pump's fluid section: on each stroke it lifts off its seat to let coating through, then reseats to hold pressure. Compatible with HERO 400, 401, 500 (HERO), 501, 550, and 6000 (HERO).

Common reasons for replacement:

  • Fluid backflow from a ball that no longer seats cleanly
  • Pitting or scoring from abrasive coatings
  • Replaced together with its seat during a fluid-section rebuild
  • Sprayer loses prime or pressure as the ball wears out-of-round
